leaping

every night
we lay our heads on our pillows
and let ourselves go
escaping the physical world
succumbing to dreams
dreams of love, joy and the strangest things
dreams of pain misery and heartache
instead of just leaving
why don't we just stay
instead of
falling down the rabbit hole
meeting the Cheshire cat
tea and cookies with the Mad Hatter,
walking through forests of the most magical things
getting big and small
why don't we just stay?
why risk encounters with the queen of hearts

there's a time where there will be no castles and cottages and tea and cookies and love and joy and the strangest things no mad hatter no child's wonder no bliss no growing old. No birthday parties, hugs, and kisses. No trips no adventures. Just pitch black, nothing.
why not risk falling?
why not risk pain and misery and heartache
for love and joy and the strangest little things?
why not leap into the great unknown?

Every night,
we lay our heads on our pillows
and leap into the great unknown,
succumbing to love and misery,
pain and joy.
